I am extremely excited to announce that I’ve accepted the opportunity to start my journey to becoming a SANS Instructor. As a SANS Instructor Candidate, I will be working over the next 18 months (or so) to earn the prestigious right to call myself a Certified SANS Instructor. This opportunity is not something I take lightly and am extremely humbled that SANS has offered me the opportunity to contribute as an instructor at a company that is the most trusted resource for cybersecurity training, certifications, and research.
This is just the beginning of a long process that I know will be worth it. My first step in this process is to co-teach SEC 557 Continuous Automation for Enterprise and Cloud Compliance with the great Clay Risenhoover. I am nervous, I am experiencing imposter syndrome as I type this but I am ready and excited for the challenge. I’m excited to learn and grow as a cybersecurity professional while also helping others grow in this space.
It’s extremely important for me to step into spaces where historically people that look like me are not well represented. I’m a big believer in representation and how important it is to show young children that there are people that look like them succeeding in different positions and industries.
