Starting an Audit
It's time to start your SOC 2 audit to help you organize the compliance process. Starting the audit helps you kick off the first few steps of your SOC 2 journey in ByteChek based on the type of SOC 2 assessment you are undergoing.
In this article you'll learn the basics of starting the audit and how to use this feature to manage your SOC 2 program.
Things to know
Here are some key things you should know about starting the audit:
The Type of SOC 2 report you are earning will determine next steps in ByteChek. If you are signed up to do a SOC 2 Type 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 with ByteChek, start with Type 1.
The as-of date is the planned date of your report, typically this is the last day of the month (i.e. September 30th)
The report signer is typically someone in a leadership position that takes accountability for what is in the report. We see individuals in the following roles that typically sign the report: CEO, CTO, COO, CISO, CFO, or the senior compliance officer
